Training for ALL ARES/RACES Personnel
District/Region One

The following courses are required for all Western Washington ARES members. They are  offered online; most of which are free or for a nominal fee. All of the FEMA/Department of Homeland Security (DHS) courses are free charge.

The FEMA/DHS classes can be downloaded from the FEMA web site, along with the final test and completed (open book) then returned to FEMA by mail or take the test online for immediate accreditation.

The Red Cross course "Introduction to Disaster Services" is also free for the taking online. There is a charge for the ARRL® class; $45 for ARRL members ($75 for non-members).

• FEMA/DHS IS 800 National Response Plan - DEC and above

• Basic Formal Message Traffic Handling (NTS)
